Joseph D. Healy

Joe Healy was a member of The United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941), or “Byrd’s Third Antarctic Expedition”. The goal of the voyage was exploration, and the establishment of US bases in Antarctica. He also served, during World War Two, in Greenland as a member of the Army Air Corp's Search and Rescue Mission. "He was also flown, with his dog teams, to Europe at the time of the Battle of the Bulge, in order to bring back the wounded from behind the German lines."
